What Are Psychological Screenings & Evaluations?

Psychological screenings and evaluations are designed to assess your emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns so that an accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plan can be developed.

At Mental HealthWorks PLLC, psychological screenings and evaluations are part of comprehensive psychiatric care—not a stand-alone service. During your appointment, we take the time to understand your symptoms, medical history, mental health history, current medications, lifestyle, and personal goals.

This information allows us to recommend the treatment options that best meet your individual needs.

Depending on your diagnosis and symptoms, your treatment plan may include:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric care
  • Medication management
  • Individual therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-informed interventions
  • Supportive therapy
  • Behavioral strategies
  • Lifestyle recommendations
  • Ongoing follow-up care

Our goal is to provide clarity, support, and evidence-based care that treats the whole person rather than simply addressing individual symptoms.

When Should You Consider a Psychological Screening & Evaluation?

Many people seek a psychological screening or evaluation when emotional or behavioral concerns begin affecting their work, relationships, school, or daily life.

Common reasons include:

  • Persistent anxiety or excessive worry
  • Panic attacks
  • Depression or prolonged sadness
  • Difficulty concentrating or possible ADHD
  • Mood swings or bipolar symptoms
  • Trauma or PTSD
  • Obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviors (OCD)
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Stress-related concerns
  • Substance use concerns
  • Questions about whether medication may help
  • Looking for ongoing psychiatric care or a second opinion

Whether you’ve been experiencing symptoms for weeks or years, a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation can help identify what’s happening and guide the next steps in treatment.

Common Concerns Patients Share

Many people delay seeking care because they aren’t sure what to expect or worry that their concerns aren’t “serious enough.”

Patients often tell us they have:

  • Felt dismissed or rushed during previous appointments
  • Wondered whether what they’re experiencing has a diagnosis
  • Struggled to find a provider accepting new patients
  • Been confused about insurance coverage
  • Felt anxious about discussing personal concerns
  • Needed an evaluation before beginning treatment or medication management

Our goal is to create a comfortable, supportive environment where you can openly discuss your concerns and receive compassionate, individualized care.

Your provider will conduct a detailed assessment of your symptoms, mental health history, medical history, medications, lifestyle, and treatment goals.

This evaluation provides the information needed to make an accurate diagnosis and recommend the most appropriate course of treatment.

Step 3: Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on your evaluation, we’ll develop an individualized care plan that may include:

  • Psychiatric diagnosis
  • Medication management
  • Individual therapy
  • CBT-informed therapeutic techniques
